The MSc by Research Health and Social Care from the University of Lincoln is designed to enable students to undertake a research project that enhances their understanding of health and social care. Throughout this research degree, there is no formal taught content. Students work with a carefully selected supervision team who support them to develop their subject knowledge and research methods in executing their research project.
This programme is assessed through the submission of a written thesis (maximum 25,000 words) and, normally, an oral examination (viva voce). Students are examined by two assessors, one internal to the university and one external. Following the oral examination, it may be necessary to undertake some amendments to the thesis to completely satisfy the criteria for the award.

Grade Requirements:
A minimum of an upper second-class honours degree or a master's degree in a relevant subject.
English Proficiency:
International students will be required to demonstrate English language proficiency equivalent to IELTS 6.0 overall, with a minimum of 5.5 in each element. Alternative qualifications are also accepted.
For international students enrolling in the MSc by Research Health and Social Care from the University of Lincoln, the tuition fees for the 2025/26 academic year are £18,500.
