LLB Law, Criminology and Criminal Justice

Course Overview

The LLB Law, Criminology and Criminal Justice course at Teesside University gives you a comprehensive understanding of both the legal system and the criminal justice process, including how the police, courts, and prisons operate. This course combines two key disciplines — law and criminology — to help you develop expertise in legal theory while also gaining insights into crime, justice, and societal responses to criminal behaviour.

In your second year, you’ll have the opportunity to choose a module that involves real-world work experience. Through Teesside’s Law Clinic, you can participate in pro bono (free) legal work, offering legal advice to real clients in collaboration with qualified lawyers and charities. This hands-on experience develops your practical skills, deepens your understanding of legal practice, and enhances your employability across a variety of professional fields.

An LLB Law degree is a highly respected qualification that trains you to think critically, challenge assumptions, and analyse complex issues. While many graduates become solicitors, barristers, or legal executives, this interdisciplinary Teesside programme also prepares you for successful careers in law enforcement, probation services, management, recruitment, policy development, and the voluntary sector.
