BSc Computer and Digital Forensics

Course Overview

The BSc Computer and Digital Forensics course prepares students with the ability to investigate, prevent, and find digital crimes and threats from terrorism. Students will learn about file types, methods for getting back lost data, computer networks, communication rules, security, secret codes, how to understand software, and investigation techniques. They will also use standard tools in computer forensics, such as X-Ways, Magnet AXIOM, UFED Cellebrite, and Passware.

Students gain practical experience through various teaching methods, including lectures, tutorials, discussions, workshops, laboratory work, and project assignments. The course is officially approved by the Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences, ensuring its high quality and relevance.

About University

Entry Requirements

Candidates are required to submit a personal statement in which they discuss their reasons for applying for the course and other relevant information regarding their studies. A relevant academic and/or employer reference is also required. Students have the option to upload their CV along with their applications to show their work experience.

Grade Requirements:

  • Applicants need 96-112 UCAS tariff points.
  • They must have GCSE English and Mathematics at grade 4 (grade C) or equivalent.
  • At least one relevant subject at Level 3 is needed, such as Biology, Chemistry, or Applied Science.

English Proficiency:

  • Applicants from non-English speaking backgrounds need to score at least 6.0 Overall in IELTS, with no section lower than 5.5.
  • For the Pearson Test of English (PTE), an overall score of 59 is required.
  • For the TOEFL test, an overall score of 72 is needed.

Cost of Study

International students' tuition fee is £17,000 per year.

Scholarships

Teesside University offers several scholarships for eligible international students. These include the Vice Chancellor's Scholarship, which provides a one-off payment of £7,000 as a fee reduction in the first year for outstanding students. The Global Excellence Scholarship offers a £2,000 fee reduction in the first academic year for eligible international students who show academic excellence.
