PhD Management

Course Overview

The PhD Management programme from Birkbeck University is designed for students who wish to pursue academic careers involving teaching and research in management, or to develop careers in consultancy and policy making. The programme involves rigorous study and research, requiring students to be well-prepared to study the subject area in depth through academic research needed to complete an independent project.

The four-year full-time programme requires students to undertake original research and submit a substantial dissertation of up to 100,000 words. The research is based on the methods and theories from several social science fields, mainly economics, psychology, and sociology, along with geography and political science, enabling students to gain interdisciplinary skills and knowledge.
