BSc Foundation Programme in Business and Social Science

Course Overview

The Aston University BSc Foundation Programme in Business and Social Science is specifically designed to provide a clear route for progression into undergraduate degrees within the College of Business and Social Sciences.

This preparatory year aims to develop essential subject-specific knowledge alongside key transferable skills, such as teamwork and leadership, ensuring students are well-prepared for their chosen degree. Students will study core content and have the opportunity to select optional modules, allowing for initial specialisation.

The 12-month full-time programme comprises 120 credits, structured around four core shared modules and two "soft" pathways: one for business and one for social science. Learning is supported by experienced tutors and lecturers, with additional assistance from the Learning Development Centre.

Assessment methods include written and oral examinations, class tests, individual and group coursework, projects, presentations, and practical assessments. Successful completion with a minimum of 50% overall is required for progression to degrees like Accounting and Finance or Law, while 40% is needed for other pathways.
