MPharm Pharmacy

Course Overview

The MPharm Pharmacy at Teesside University, Middlesbrough is a four-year integrated degree — the main qualification required to become a registered pharmacist in the UK. This programme combines three years of undergraduate study with one postgraduate-level year, providing a modern and comprehensive approach to pharmacy education. From the first year, students begin developing prescribing skills and complete 145 days of practical placements in a variety of pharmacy environments, preparing them for diverse roles across the healthcare sector.

The course follows a spiral curriculum, meaning students revisit six key body systems each year, progressing from basic to complex healthcare needs in alignment with patient care pathways. Learning takes place through lectures, laboratory sessions in cutting-edge facilities, and collaborative sessions with other healthcare disciplines. Assessments mirror real-world pharmacy practices, including multiple-choice tests, Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs), and research projects throughout the programme.
