LLM Bar Course

The LLM Bar Course at Northumbria University, Newcastle, allows students to apply their knowledge and skills to practice in a range of areas, focusing on the foundational practice in family, civil and criminal law. These projects will enable students to develop professional skills necessary for practice, enhance their legal knowledge and build theiràpaà ability to analyse and reflect on law, practice and policy.

• Applicants are expected to have a minimum of a 2:1 honours degree in law or a commendation in the Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) – or to be on track to achieve this. Applicants with a 2:2 honours degree or a pass in the GDL may be considered on exceptional circumstances, based on individual merit and supportive evidence.

English Proficiency:

• If English is not your first language, you will usually need to provide evidence of your English language proficiency by having an overall IELTS score of 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in each component, which is typically required.
• The university also accepts other equivalent English language qualifications.

For international students enrolling in the LLM Bar Course from Northumbria University, Newcastle, the tuition fee for the 2025-26 academic year is £13,200.
