BEng (Hons) Design Engineering

Course Details

A BEng (Hons) Design Engineering course in the UK combines design concepts with engineering principles. During this course, you will learn how to take your ideas from conception to reality through the use of engineering principles (mechanical, electronic and digital technologies). You will study product development, manufacturing processes, design analysis, and project management, while learning how to use industry standard design software.

Entry Requirements

There are certain requirements to meet to be eligible for a BEng (Hons) Design Engineering in the UK. Here are the general entry requirements:

 

  • A-Levels: ABB-BBB including Mathematics and Physics/Design Technology

  • International Baccalaureate: 32-34 points with Higher Level Mathematics and Physics/Design Technology

  • BTEC: DDM in Engineering or relevant subject with strong Mathematics content

  • Scottish Highers: AABBB including Mathematics and Physics/Design Technology

 

Additionally, you may need a portfolio of your design works.

 

English Language Requirements

 

Non-native English speakers may need to demonstrate proficiency in the language, typically through an IELTS score of at least 6.5. TOEFL or other equivalents are also allowed.

 

International Entry Requirements

 

Specifically for international applicants, here are the entry requirements for a BEng (Hons) Design Engineering from the UK:

 

  • Strong grades in high school completion certificate from your country

  • Mathematics and Physics/Design Technology at advanced level

  • Some universities may require SAT/ACT scores (mainly for US students)
