MSc Psychological Research Methods

Course Overview

The MSc in Psychological Research Methods at the University of Lincoln is for people who want a career focused on research in psychology and related areas, including those who plan to do a PhD. This course gives students a full understanding of different psychological research methods that can be used to understand and deal with real-world problems about how people behave, perceive things, think, and feel.

Importantly, the course is also good for graduates who do not have a psychology background but want to work in psychology. It is approved by the British Psychological Society and gives the Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership. A key part of the programme is its focus on practical research methods, which comes from the specific research interests and knowledge of the teachers in the School of Psychology.

Learning on this MSc programme involves different ways of teaching. Full-time students usually attend in person for two days each week, and part-time students typically attend one day a week. Digital tools and technology are often used to help with learning. Assessments include research plans, research reports, essays, and presentations. Feedback is usually provided within 15 working days. A significant part of the course is studying independently, which is common at the postgraduate level.
