This two-year Foundation Degree is special because it brings together strength and conditioning training with key knowledge of sports nutrition. It gives students practical skills, based on the latest research, for a job in sport and exercise science. This qualification is officially recognised by the International Universities Strength and Conditioning Association (IUSCA). After finishing, students can choose to move straight into the final year of the BSc (Hons) degree.
Learning includes a balance of classroom study and hands-on coaching, using the university's sport facilities, like the Human Performance Centre. Assessment in this course is through projects (coursework) and practical tasks, with only a small number of written tests. Students also have opportunities to earn extra industry qualifications and get important career experiences through work placements.
