MSc Forensic Science with Advanced Practice

Course Overview

The MSc Forensic Science (with Advanced Practice) programme lasts for a period of two years. It covers the practices, procedures, and analytical methods used in forensic science to support the investigation of crime.

The programme is accredited by The Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences, which is the international professional body in the field. It includes an Advanced Practice semester made up of a research or internship for at least twelve weeks (400 hours) to build work experience.

Students will learn through lectures, tutorials, projects, and assignments, and will be assessed through examinations, assignments, and a courtroom expert witness assessment. Experiments will be carried out on campus using the forensic buildings, including a lab and a crime scene house.

Entry Requirements for Pakistani Students

Candidates need to submit a personal statement and relevant information regarding their studies, an academic and/or employer reference, and their CVs to show their work experience.

Grade Requirements:

  • Candidates need at least a second-class undergraduate degree in scientific subjects, such as biology, chemistry, biomedical science, biochemistry, and forensic science.
  • Other international qualifications that are equivalent to an undergraduate degree are also accepted.

English Proficiency:

  • Candidates need an overall score of 6.0 in the IELTS Academic test, with no score below 5.5.
  • Other English language test scores, such as PTE Academic and TOEFL IBT, are accepted, amongst others.

Cost of Study

The tuition fee for the MSc Forensic Science (with Advanced Practice) at Teesside University is £10,000, subject to annual change.

Scholarships

The Vice-Chancellor's Scholarship offers £7,000 for excellent students, and the British Council GREAT Scholarships offers £10,000 for Master's programmes. The Global Excellence and Africa Excellence Scholarships also offer a £2,000 fee discount for qualified students.
