BEng Electrical and Electronic Engineering Top-up

The BEng Tech (Hons) Electrical and Electronic Engineering (Top-up) is a one-year programme. It is designed for students who already hold a Level 5 qualification, such as an HND or foundation degree, in a related electrical, electronic, or communications subject.

This course provides students with advanced skills and knowledge in areas previously studied within Electrical and Electronic Engineering or a related field. It enhances understanding of electrical and electronic systems and drives, while also developing problem-solving and design management skills.

Teaching is delivered through lectures, laboratory sessions, tutorials, and self-learning. Assessment methods include exams, coursework, group work, and presentations. This top-up degree is also available for online study. Upon completion, graduates can progress to Master’s level study or gain improved career opportunities within the engineering sector.

Grade Requirements:

• Completion of two years of higher study in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, such as an HND, Diploma, or Foundation Degree (Level 5).
• Applicants should have achieved at least four subjects with Merit (equivalent to a Credit or B grade, above average).
• Equivalent qualifications in the applicant’s home country are also accepted.

English Proficiency:

• An overall IELTS score of 6.0, with no band below 5.5.
• Accepted alternatives: PTE Academic (minimum 55 overall with at least 51 in each part), CAE (at least grade C), or TOEFL (70–72 overall).

The tuition fee for international students studying this course is £17,000 per year. The university may review this fee annually.
