BEng Civil Engineering Top-up

The BEng Civil Engineering at Teesside University, Middlesbrough, is designed to help students to develop knowledge and skills in areas such as structures, construction materials, fluid mechanics and construction management. Throughout this 3-year programme, students will gain an in-depth knowledge and understanding of planning, design, construction and operation of civil engineering practices, enabling them to tackle engineering challenges and contribute to the development of high-quality infrastructures.

Teesside University's BEng Civil Engineering degree in Middlesbrough is accredited by the Joint Board of Moderators, which represents the Institution of Civil Engineers, Institution of Structural Engineers, Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation, and the Institute of Highway Engineers. It fully satisfies the requirements for Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status and partially satisfies the requirements for CEng status.

Grade Requirements:

• Applicants must have qualifications equivalent to UCAS tariff points (96-112), including Maths, from any combination of acceptable Level 3 qualifications.
• Candidates may be able to join in year two or three if they have studied at HNC or HND. If they don’t have a qualification but have gained relevant credits at Level 4 in a related subject, then credit transfer may be possible.

English Proficiency: 

• Students from non-English-speaking backgrounds get an overall IELTS score of 6.0, with no individual component score below 5.5.
• Teesside University accepts other recognised English language qualifications like TOEFL and PTE, amongst others. 

For international applicants, the tuition fee for the BEng Civil Engineering course at Teesside University for the 2025-26 academic year is £17,000 per year.

Teesside University offers scholarships for international postgraduate students, including the Sir Keith Skeoch Postgraduate Scholarship, which offers a £3500 fee reduction. The Global Excellence Scholarship, which offers a £2000 reduction on fees, and finally, the British Council GREAT Scholarship in partnership with Teesside University helps with tuition fees with a reduction of up to £10,000.
