A BSc in Business Information Systems with a Year in Industry is an undergraduate degree that merges business and IT knowledge, focusing on how technology improves and drives business operations. The “year in industry” indicates that students will spend a year working in a company of their choice, gaining hands-on experience before completing their final year of study.
During this programme, students will be taught different modules, from management to business operations, IT design, data management, and analytics, to help them understand the importance of Information Systems in business. Additionally, students will learn programming, which includes coding and system development. They will be tutored from scratch, allowing them to understand the basics of IT and how it is used to scale a business. There will also be work placement before their final year (could be paid or unpaid) to enable them to gain experience in a real business environment.
The assessment methods for this programme include oral presentations, examinations, coursework, essays and reports. In their final year, students apply their industry placement experience through a company project. This allows for direct feedback, enabling them to refine their skills. Upon graduation, they are well-prepared for roles in business, technology, system development, and project management.
