LLB Law with Foundation Year

Course Overview

The BA Joint Criminology and Law with Foundation Year at Leeds Trinity University is designed to enable students to understand how police and lawyers investigate the social and psychological causes of crime, and how the legal system provides justice for victims while balancing punishment with rehabilitation for offenders. Students will learn the techniques used to respond to criminal behaviour, as well as gain an understanding of the causes and consequences of crime with a particular focus on serious and violent crime.

During the Foundation Year, students will undertake modules that enhance their academic skills and equip them with the tools they need to study a full bachelor's degree. They will also develop their knowledge of law by examining issues and questions that are key to understanding common legal challenges. Students will learn about the English legal system and how legal precedent is established, and explore the basic principles of common law and case law.

In their final year, students will have the chance to specialise in their preferred area of criminology and law through a research project. They can also choose to complete a year-long professional project module with an employer.
