Course Overview

The BSc (Hons) Criminology and Law Programme at Buckinghamshire New University combines the sociological and psychological dimensions of criminology with a solid foundation in legal principles. Students gain a critical understanding of why crime occurs, how society responds to it and the role of law within the complex system,  focusing on applying theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios and contemporary social issues.

Entry Requirements

Candidates must submit a personal statement explaining their interest in the course and any relevant educational background. An academic or employer reference is also required. Applicants may choose to include a CV to showcase their work experience.

Grade Requirements:

  • Applicants require 88 UCAS points or a minimum of BCC or CCD at A-level or DMM for a Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma.
  • Relevant equivalent international qualifications will also be accepted 

English Proficiency:

  • Applicants from non-English-speaking backgrounds must achieve a minimum overall IELTS score of 6.0, with at least 5.5 in each component.
  • Equivalent test scores, such as TOEFL or PTE, are also accepted·

Cost of Study

For the 2025/2026 academic year, international students enrolling in this programme will pay a tuition fee of £15,150.

The BNU offers a range of scholarships and bursaries designed to support international students. These non-repayable awards provide financial assistance based on a variety of factors, including personal circumstances, household income or academic achievement.

Opportunities include awards such as the Vice Chancellor's International Student Scholarship, the International Early Payment Discount, among others.
