BSc Computing and Information Technology

Course Overview

This BSc (Hons) Computing and Information Technology course teaches you the main ideas and practical skills for working with computers and IT. The goal of the course is to help you become someone who can plan, build, use, and look after computer systems and solutions for different types of organisations.

Students will learn about important areas like how to create software, manage databases, work with computer networks, protect against cyber attacks, and manage IT projects. The course is supported by real companies, so what you learn is relevant to what is happening in the industry right now.

On this course, learning is done through lectures, small group discussions, hands-on work in computer labs, and studying by yourself. You will be tested through assignments, presentations, practical tasks, and exams. You will get chances to use what you learn in real projects and case studies. All computer courses are taught in STEAMhouse, a £70 million building with great equipment for technology and new ideas. You can also choose to do a year of work experience to help you get a job after you finish.
