BSc Networks and Cyber Security

Course Overview

Northumbria University, Newcastle’s BSc Networks and Cyber Security is a three-year undergraduate programme designed for students who want to learn about data ethics and network configuration. These networks, called databases, are where important documentation is carried out. Students will also be introduced to cybersecurity and database protection in various industries, including oil rigs and refineries.

The course begins with computer science essentials, where students will become experts in network engineering, digital encryption (ethical hacking), and forensics by the time they graduate. Additionally, they will study Advanced Network and Security modules and have the chance to opt for Cisco CCNA modules certifications through Cisco Net Academy.

The programme’s highlight is a final-year module involving a project on topics similar to advanced network and security technologies using virtual machines, simulation, or programming tools, including AI or Machine learning. Learning is through lectures and seminars. Assessment is through periodic tests, assignments, and examinations.

Grade Requirements

  • Applicants need 112 UCAS Tariff points from a combination of acceptable level 3 qualifications, which may include T-levels, A-levels, BTEC Diplomas or Extended Diplomas, Scottish and Irish Highers, Access to HE Diplomas, or the International Baccalaureate.

English Proficiency

  • International applicants must showcase their fluency in English by scoring 6.0 overall in the IELTS, with no component score below 5.5.

Cost of Study
