MA Interior Design

The MA Interior Design teaches the re-use and transformation of existing buildings, focusing on elements such as creating effective spatial structures, improving circulation and function. Students will learn how to identify good materials, design fittings and furniture, and select proper lighting strategies and colour palettes to beautify environments.

This programme focuses on current trends in the industry, including wellbeing, sustainability, and social impact, preparing students for design practice. Students learn through lectures, practical demonstrations, and enquiry sessions made for discussions and critical thinking. Students’ assessment includes projects in which students submit a portfolio of designed work and a verbal presentation.

Teesside University began in 1930 as Constantine Technical College and became a university in 1992. It offers world-class education and received the TEF Gold 2023 award for outstanding teaching quality and was named Modern University of the Year 2026 by the Daily Mail. The University offers academic programmes, including undergraduate and postgraduate courses in fields such as business, engineering, computing, arts, and health. The University has recently invested over £300 million in its welcoming town-centre campus, which is recognised as Europe's first Adobe Creative Campus.

Candidates are required to submit a personal statement, relevant information about their studies, an academic and/or employer reference, a portfolio, and their CVs to show their work experience.

Grade Requirements:

• Candidates need a 2.2 in a design-related field or a design degree.
• Other International qualifications equivalent to a degree are also accepted.

English Proficiency:

• Candidates should submit an overall score of 6.0 in IELTS score, with no component below 5.5.
• PTE Academic and TOEFL are also accepted.

The international students’ tuition fee for the MA Interior Design programme at Teesside University is £17,000.
