Teesside University offers a BSc (Hons) Diagnostic Radiography programme that provides both theoretical and practical training for a career in medical imaging, utilising X-ray, CT, MRI, and ultrasound technologies. The three-year, full-time degree integrates academic study with extensive clinical placements across the northeast region. The programme is designed to prepare students for registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and features experienced teaching staff and industry-standard facilities.
You work in a fast-paced clinical setting where patient interactions are often brief. Hence, you need strong interpersonal and communication skills to quickly put patients at ease and demonstrate a high level of patient care, empathy, and compassion.
You gain valuable clinical knowledge and practical skills through a variety of teaching tools, including an extensive medical imaging database and virtual radiography simulation software, which is used to teach radiography students worldwide. You have access to an X-ray machine and engage in face-to-face simulation with your peers to build your confidence for clinical placement. Successful completion of the course provides eligibility to apply for registration with the Health and Care Professions Council and membership of the Society and College of Radiographers. 100% attendance is expected during this course.
