BSc Criminology with Law

Course Overview

The BSc Criminology with Law at Teesside University is designed for those who are fascinated by crime, justice, and the legal system — and who aspire to make a positive difference in society. This degree provides a strong foundation in both criminological theory and legal studies, equipping you with valuable analytical, research, and practical skills applicable to a wide range of justice-related careers.

The course offers unique opportunities for real-world experience beyond the classroom. Through Teesside’s renowned Inside Out programme, you can study social and crime-related issues alongside people currently in prison. Guest speakers also provide firsthand insights into real-life cases. Additionally, volunteering opportunities with community organisations such as victim support and drug rehabilitation projects allow you to gain practical exposure.

In your final year, you’ll undertake a research project focusing on a crime or law topic of personal interest. Assessment methods are varied and include essays, presentations, projects, case studies, exams, and a dissertation. Some modules include smaller assessments throughout the year to help you build your skills gradually. Studying Criminology with Law at Teesside University prepares you for meaningful work in the justice sector and related fields.
