BEng Aerospace Engineering with Foundation Year

The Teesside University BEng Aerospace Engineering with Foundation Year programme is designed for those passionate about flight and space technology who wish to become versatile engineers, including individuals who need additional preparation for degree-level study. 

The foundation year prepares students with essential academic skills before they progress to the main degree. The curriculum covers core aerospace subjects such as design, fluids, mechanics, flight control systems, structures, materials, propulsion, and aircraft performance.

Learning on this course combines lectures, seminars, and practical laboratory sessions. Students engage in self-guided study and benefit from access to extensive aerospace engineering workshops at Hartlepool College of Further Education, which include various aircraft, engines, and a wind tunnel. 

Assessment methods include in-course assignments, written and laboratory reports, presentations, and examinations. Students have opportunities for international travel through student mobility visits or studying abroad, and can enhance maths skills with a free online course.

Grade Requirements

• For 2025 admission, standard entry requirements are A Levels, BTEC, T Levels, or the International Baccalaureate. A-level equivalent international qualifications are also accepted.

English Proficiency:

• If English is not your first language, you will need to provide evidence of your English language skills. Specifically, an IELTS score of 6.0 overall or submit other equivalent test scores like PTE and TOEFL.

The annual tuition fee for the BEng Aerospace Engineering with Foundation Year at Teesside University is £17,000.

Teesside University offers several scholarships for eligible international undergraduate students, including those on programmes with a foundation year. These include the Global Excellence Scholarship, offering £2,000 for students demonstrating academic merit, and the Vice Chancellor's Scholarship, providing a one-off payment of £7,000 for outstanding applicants. Other options may include country-specific bursaries and merit scholarships. Some scholarships, like the Brittan Scholarship (£10,000 for AAB grades), may apply upon progression from the foundation year to the main degree.
