BA Architecture

Course Overview

The BA (Hons) Architecture at Northumbria University, Newcastle, teaches you the main areas of architecture, including design, history, building technology, sustainability, and how the profession works. You will learn through lectures and practical studio sessions, where you will use your knowledge to create design projects.

This course also shows you how to design buildings and spaces for real people in real places. In your final year, you will work on two big projects: one based in the countryside and one based in a city. These projects will help you grow your design skills and develop your personal style as an architect.

You will have the chance to go on a field trip to a European city. This is a good opportunity to see famous buildings and understand how architecture is shaped by different cultures and places.

Studying BA  Architecture at Northumbria University gives you the opportunity to be recognised by professional bodies like the ARB (Architects Registration Board) and RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects). This is an important step if you want to become a professional architect.
