Course Overview

The MSc Business and Management at Northumbria University is for students who have finished a degree in any subject and want to improve their leadership and management skills. About University

Northumbria University traces its roots back to 1877 with the establishment of Rutherford College. In 1969, it became Newcastle Polytechnic and was granted university status in 1992, adopting the name Northumbria University. It is a public university and it is located in Newcastle upon Tyne. 

Currently, Northumbria University is one of the UK's largest universities, with a student population of approximately 38,300. This includes around 3,300 international students on its Newcastle campuses and an additional 3,000 studying on university programmes in their own countries.

Northumbria University is organised into four faculties: Arts, Design and Social Sciences; Business and Law; Engineering and Environment; and Health and Life Sciences. It is recognised for its research excellence, ranking in the UK's top 25 for research power.

In recognition of its achievements, Northumbria University was named UK University of the Year 2022 by Times Higher Education and Modern University of the Year 2025 by The Times and The Sunday Times.

Entry Requirements

Applicants are expected to have a suitable level of experience working in a business organisation. 

Grade Requirements:

  • To study this course, applicants are expected to have at least a 2:2 honours degree or equivalent in a related subject area. 

English Proficiency: 

  • Non-native speakers of English are expected to demonstrate proficiency in English with an IELTS score of 6.5, with a minimum of 5.5 in each of the four components.

Cost of Study

For the 2025/2026 entry, the tuition fee to study an MSc in Business and Management at Northumbria University is £20,950. This is provisional and subject to change.

Scholarships

Northumbria University has different scholarships to help international students who are starting their studies in the 2025/26 academic year. These scholarships are given to students who have good academic results or need financial support.

For example, international students who start a postgraduate course at the Newcastle Upon Tyne campus in September 2025 may receive a £4,000 discount on their first year’s tuition fees.
