Cardiff Metropolitan University, a partner of AHZ, has been nominated for two Times Higher Education Awards and has been recognised as the 'Welsh University of the Year' in a national ranking this week.
Cardiff Met University has been selected as a finalist in the "Outstanding Entrepreneurial University" category, recognising its strong focus on innovation and business initiatives.
Additionally, Mark Dabee Saltmarsh, a technician in the School of Education and Social Policy, is a finalist for the "Outstanding Technician of the Year" award, highlighting his exceptional work and contribution to the university.
The 20th annual Times Higher Education (THE) Awards celebrate the best in UK and Irish universities. The winners will be revealed on 28th November 2024.
Cardiff Metropolitan University has been recognised for its strong support for student start-ups. For the last five years, the university has been in the top 20% of UK universities for student-led businesses. Currently, it has the sixth highest number of student start-ups that have lasted more than three years.
Cardiff Metropolitan University has been named Welsh University of the Year in the Daily Mail University Guide 2025. This title highlights the university's excellent reputation for sports achievements and its efforts to make higher education accessible to a wider range of students. Notably, 45% of its students are the first in their family to attend university.
The award also acknowledges the university’s strong performance in the National Student Survey, where Cardiff Met ranks in the top 25 UK universities for student support. Moreover, it’s in the top 40 for teaching quality, course excellence, and overall student experience.
