Aston University has made great strides in the 2025 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings. They have achieved an overall worldwide rank of 351-400 out of 2,097 ranked universities. This places Aston in the top 20% of universities globally!
The university is particularly recognised for its International Outlook, coming in at 31st in the world, and it has also earned a spot in the top 200 for Research Quality.
Professor Aleks Subic, Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive of Aston University, shared his thoughts:
“This upward trajectory demonstrates that we are improving our standing in international and national rankings, strengthening our reputation based on how we engage and the outcomes and impacts we create through education and research. We are now firmly on track to achieving our strategic aim of ranking among the THE top 300 universities globally by 2030."
However, this improvement is part of a fantastic year for Aston University. In addition to its new ranking, the university was:
- Named University of the Year for Student Success (Daily Mail University Guide 2025)
- Ranked 21st in The Guardian's annual table, making it the best university in Birmingham
- Placed in the top 10% of all 5,663 institutions evaluated (QS World Rankings 2025)
- Rated 8th for Best UK Universities for Job Prospects (StudentCrowd awards)
- Awarded the highest rating of triple gold (Teaching Excellence Framework 2023)
According to the 2024 Longitudinal Education Outcomes (LEO) data, graduates from Aston University earn a median salary of £35,400 five years after they graduate. This puts them in 19th place among all universities in the UK.
