MSc Human Resource Management

Course Overview

The MSc Human Resource Management at Nottingham Trent University is designed for students from any academic background who want to begin a successful career in HR. This course is approved by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) and gives you the chance to earn a CIPD-accredited master’s qualification.

By studying MSc Human Resource Management at Nottingham Trent University, you will learn about important areas in HR, such as recruitment, training, consultancy, and employee relations. You will gain useful skills and learn how to use HR methods to solve real problems in business.

One of the most valuable parts of the course is the Consultancy Experience Project. In this project, you will work with a real company and advise senior managers. This will help you build confidence and gain experience that is helpful for your future career.

When you finish the course, you will become an Associate Member of the CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development). This is the first step to becoming a Chartered Member or Fellow of the CIPD. Nottingham Business School will also pay for your student membership during the course. This degree will also help you improve your communication, critical thinking, and decision-making skills, which are all important for working in human resources.

Nottingham Trent University is a public research university based in Nottingham, England. It began as a School of Design and achieved university status in 1992.

Entry Requirements

One academic reference is required to study this course. Additionally, all applicants will be required to demonstrate a commitment to the subject they have chosen and should demonstrate how their chosen programme of study will benefit them in their future career.

Grade Requirements: 

  • For the one-year course, you will need an undergraduate degree equivalent to a UK undergraduate honours degree (2.2 or above).
  • Two years with placement: You will need an undergraduate degree equivalent to a UK undergraduate honours degree (2.1 or above).

English Proficiency: 

  • International students will need to show proficiency in English by having an IELTS score of 6.5 with at least 6.0 in each skill area. 
  • Equivalent tests such as Pearson, TOEFL iBT, or LanguageCert are also accepted.

Cost of Study

For the 2025/2026 academic year, the tuition fee to study an  MSc in Human Resource Management at Nottingham Trent University is £20,650. For those who want to study with a placement year, a placement fee of £1,850 will be paid in the second year.

Scholarships

NTU offers several scholarships and financial aid options to students to ease their financial burden. For instance, the GREAT Scholarship offers up to £10,000 per award to eligible students from Egypt, Ghana, Italy, Kenya, and Pakistan. 

Also, the International Scholarship is worth £2,000, 50% off tuition fees. Additionally, the Excellence Scholarships provide up to 25% or 50% reductions and £3,000 per additional year for undergraduates.
