Entry Requirements

Grade Requirements:

  • Applicants should hold a degree in nursing or a related field with at least a lower second-class honours (2:2) or its international equivalent.
  • Applicants with a third-class degree must have at least 18 months of relevant work experience, typically in healthcare.

English Proficiency:

  • International applicants whose first language is not English must show proof of English ability. This means they must have at least a 6.5 overall score in IELTS.
  • The university accepts a Pearson Test of English (PTE Academic) (minimum 59 in each area). Other tests that are accepted are at least 180 score in the Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE), 170 in the Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE), and a merit or distinction in the Trinity Integrated Skills in English (ISE II).
  • A grade C in O-Level English or GCSE (or its equivalent) is accepted.
  • Those who do not meet the English test requirement can take the University of Sunderland English for Academic Purposes (EAP) course.
