Course Overview

The University of Strathclyde’s PhD in Public Health & Health Policy is a doctoral degree that lasts between one and three years for full-time students, depending on the research method. This course involves high-level research about new health practices and approaches to medicine, especially in population health, also known as Public Health.

In this programme, students will learn the latest modules in healthcare, as well as the terms and guidelines that accompany modern healthcare. These modules cover epidemiology, health promotion, and policy analysis, addressing health challenges through research and hands-on practice.

Additionally, the first one to two years are dedicated to full-time coursework, followed by two to five years of full-time, independent research culminating in a dissertation. However, students who enrol full-time finish after three years, while part-time students complete their studies after five years.

Learning in this course is through lectures, seminars, site visits, independent study, and assignments. Students are assessed through written assignments, examinations, practical team projects, presentations, and individual dissertations.
