MEng Aero Mechanical Engineering

Course Overview

The MEng Aero-Mechanical Engineering, University of Strathclyde, is a full-time undergraduate programme that takes 5 years to complete. The course is made to train aero-mechanical engineers in designing, building, and using machines and many other parts of aircraft. Students will also learn things they can use in other areas of engineering.

The course is approved by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) and the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS). The course is ranked highly in engineering courses in the UK. Students learn through lectures, tutorials, and lab work. They also use computer simulations and take part in individual and group projects. Assessment is mainly from coursework, exams, and projects.

Entry Requirements

All applicants for the MEng Aero-Mechanical Engineering, University of Strathclyde, must submit a transcript and certificates of high school, secondary certificate, or their equivalent. They must also submit a copy of a passport, a personal statement explaining why they want to study this course, and a reference (usually from a teacher or school).

Grade Requirements:

  • Admissions are usually competitive, but if you must study this course, you must have good results in mathematics and physics (good passes are at least AAB–BBB).
  • For international students with the International Baccalaureate (IB), they will need around 32–36 total points, with at least a level 5 in Maths and Physics.
  • The university can compare your high school or secondary school (depending on your country) to the UK standard to determine which course suits you.

English Proficiency:

  • International students will show proof of English language ability by passing one English proficiency test.
  • Some of the tests include having at least a 6.0 overall score in IELTS or at least a 60 overall score in the Pearson Test of English (PTE).
  • Other tests applicants can have include TOEFL iBT (72 overall), LanguageCert Academic (SELT) (65–69 overall), or at least Duolingo English Test (at least 100 overall score).

Cost of Study

The tuition fee for international students is £29,350 per year. This fee can change every year. It can increase, decrease, or stay the same.

International students can have access to scholarships and funding. Some of the scholarships include the Faculty of Engineering International Scholarships (£2,935 reduction) and the Engineering International Scholarships (£2,670 fee reduction).
