MSc Advanced Manufacturing

Course Overview

This accredited MSc Advanced Manufacturing programme is designed to enhance knowledge and skills in advanced manufacturing. The programme focuses on the systems and hardware used in modern manufacturing and also covers managerial skills essential for the industry. 

Students will learn about advanced tools in design and manufacturing, explore a wide range of materials, and study business systems for efficient operational skills.

The course includes an advanced project, allowing students to solve a technical problem or address workplace-related questions. Upon graduation, students will gain demonstrable skills and knowledge, experience with business case studies, and valuable professional networks.

Entry Requirements

Candidates are required to submit a personal statement, included in the personal statement are their reasons for applying for the course and other relevant information regarding their studies. A relevant academic and/or employer reference is also required. Students have the option to upload their CV along with their applications to demonstrate their work experience.

Grade Requirements:

  • Applicants need at least a second-class honours degree in a relevant subject, or equivalent professional experience and/or qualifications.

English Proficiency:

  • Applicants from non-English speaking backgrounds need a minimum IELTS band of 6.0 (or equivalent), with no component score below 5.5. The university also accepts other equivalent English test scores, such as PTE and TOEFL.

Cost of Study

For international students, the cost to study this programme full-time is £19,200. If studying part-time, the cost is £6,400 per year. Note that these figures may also be subject to annual increases.

Scholarships

The University of Portsmouth provides some financial assistance for international students who are beginning their first undergraduate degree. The Chancellor's Global Academic Merit Scholarship offers a reduction of £5,000 on the tuition fees for the first year of study. Additionally, the Vice Chancellor's Global Development Scholarship offers a £2,500 discount on the fees for the first year.
