BSc Sports Coaching Top Up

The BSc Sports Coaching (Top Up) at the University of Portsmouth is designed for individuals who want to help people fulfil their sporting potential and coach professional athletes, sports teams, schools or community groups. The course prepares students for a career in high-performance coaching environments, multi-sport coaching, coach education or within their own sports coaching business.

In this programme, students will explore modules such as advanced sports nutrition, advanced strength and conditioning, applications of performance analysis in Skill acquisition and motor learning and development. The teaching methods include lectures, workshops and practical sessions, while assessments are conducted through coursework, exams and project work on a particular topic in the final year.

Grade Requirements:

• Applicants are required to hold a relevant Level 5 qualification (e.g. HND or foundation degree, or Advanced Diploma in a sport-related subject).

English Proficiency:

• Non-English speaking applicants need a minimum IELTS score of 6.0 with no component score below 5.5.
• Alternative English proficiency tests, such as PTE or TOEFL, are accepted.

The tuition fee for the BSc Sports Coaching (Top Up) in the University of Portsmouth is £16,200 per year for international students. Tuition fees are reviewed annually and are subject to change.

The University of Portsmouth awards several scholarships to international students. Some of these include the Chancellor’s Global Academic Merit Scholarship, which offers a £5,000 reduction in fees and the Vice Chancellor's Global Development Scholarship, which offers a £2,500 fee reduction applied to the first year of study.
