The PhD Microbiology programme at the University of Lincoln provides an opportunity for advanced research in a specialised area of microbiology. Entry Requirements

Candidates are required to submit a personal statement in which they discuss their reasons for applying for the course and other relevant information regarding their studies. Grade Requirements:

  • Applicants typically need a first-class or a good upper second-class honours degree (2:1) in a relevant biological science discipline, such as microbiology, biochemistry, or genetics.

English Proficiency:

  • Applicants from non-English speaking backgrounds need to achieve an overall IELTS score of 6.0, with a minimum of 5.5 in each component, or provide equivalent proof of English language proficiency such as TOEFL, SELT or PTE.

Cost of Study

For the 2025/26 academic year, the tuition fees international students are expected to pay in the PhD Microbiology programme are £18,500 per year for full-time study and £9,250 for part-time study.
