The PhD Health and Social Care Research Opportunities programme at the University of Lincoln is designed to provide students with the opportunity to develop advanced and specific knowledge in a particular field of study. Students will have the flexibility to choose and develop their subject areas and enhance highly transferable research and project management skills.
Throughout the 2-4 years of the PhD Health and Social Care Research programme from the University of Lincoln, students will be able to work alongside experienced academics who can guide them through the research process and offer support for both personal and professional development in order to maximise career opportunities after graduation.
This programme is assessed by the submission of a written thesis (maximum 80,000 words), and normally an oral examination (viva voce). Students will be examined by two examiners, one internal to the University and one external. Following the oral examination, it may be necessary to undertake some amendments to the thesis in order to completely satisfy the criteria for the award.

Grade Requirements:
A minimum of an upper Second Class honours degree or a Master's degree in a relevant subject.
English Proficiency:
International students will be required to demonstrate English language proficiency equivalent to IELTS 6.0 overall, with a minimum of 5.5 in each component. Alternative qualifications are also accepted.
Students who do not meet the above IELTS requirements may be able to take part in one of our Pre-session English and Academic Study Skills courses. These specialist courses are designed to help students meet the English language requirements for their intended programme of study.
The tuition fees for international students enrolling in the PhD Health and Social Care Research Opportunities programme at the University of Lincoln are £18,500. Research students may need to pay extra fees to cover the cost of specialised equipment, resources, or access to collections needed for their research project.
