BSc Psychology

University of Kent

Course overview

The BSc Psychology at the University of Kent is a degree that helps you understand why people think, feel, and behave the way they do. The course examines various areas of psychology and teaches you how to study human behaviour scientifically. Students will learn how the brain functions, how people develop and change throughout their lives, and how our thoughts and emotions guide our choices. This course aims to explore how people behave in groups and why we react differently in different situations.

During the degree, topics taught include memory, learning, personality, and mental health. Students are taught using lectures, workshops, lab activities, and group tasks. Assessment may include exams, essays, research reports, presentations, and project work. In the final year, students are required to complete an independent project based on a topic of interest. Students choose a question, design a study, and work with a supervisor who guides them through each step. It also prepares them for further study, such as a master’s degree or psychology training courses.
