University of Greenwich

Course overview

The three-year BSc Biology at the University of Greenwich degree explores the full science of life, from cell processes to disease climate change. Taught by the School of Science and the Natural Resources Institute, the course allows students to study a wide range of topics or select specialised subjects like cancer research, ecology, and neuroscience in the second year.

Learning happens through a mixture of lectures, small-group seminars, and practical laboratory sessions, along with opportunities for fieldwork and international placements. Student progress is judged using formal examinations and assignments that determine the final grade. There is also a major final-year research project where students work with professors on a topic of their choice.
