BEng Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology

University of Greenwich

Course overview

The BEng Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology at the University of Greenwich is an undergraduate degree that prepares students for roles as incorporated engineers in the field of electrical and electronic technology. The course is offered at the Medway Campus (Kent) on a full-time, part-time, or sandwich basis. In the early years, students build a strong foundation in engineering mathematics, electronics, digital systems, and engineering professional skills. In later years, the programme covered hardware-software integration, power and control systems, embedded systems, and major design projects.

The course is professionally accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) on behalf of the Engineering Council. This means the degree meets the academic requirements for registration as an Incorporated Engineer (IEng). Students are also encouraged to engage in sandwich placement years (between their second and third years) or summer placements to enhance their skills.  Teaching methods include lectures, seminars, workshops, practical labs, and design studios. Students work in small-group labs building and testing electronics, using hardware and real systems. Assessment is a combination of written exams, coursework, group and individual projects, and the major capstone project.
