BEng Chemical Engineering Extended
Course overview
The BEng Chemical Engineering (Extended) at the University of Greenwich is designed for students who want to learn how materials and chemicals are turned into products we use every day, and to gain strong engineering, analytical, and problem‑solving skills. Because it is the “Extended” version, it starts with a foundation (preparatory) year to help students who do not meet the usual entry requirements for the standard degree. The foundation year gives you the basic mathematical, scientific, and engineering knowledge so you are ready for the full degree.
You will learn through a mixture of lectures, seminars/workshops, lab work, and practical assignments. You will work in specialist engineering laboratories, use simulation and process‑modelling software, carry out experiments, and design projects. Assessment includes coursework, practical laboratory and design work, reports, and examinations. By the end of the course, graduates will have developed the technical skills, engineering judgement, and professional abilities expected of an engineering practitioner, and will be ready for roles in industry or further professional training.
