BSc Business and Human Resource Management

Course Overview

The BSc Business and Human Resource Management at the University of Essex is a three-year degree programme offered at the Colchester Campus. It aims to provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to understand how businesses operate and manage people effectively within organisations.

During the programme, students learn about general business topics like strategy, marketing, supply chain management, and operations, along with specific areas in human resource management, such as diversity, international HRM, and ethical business practices. In their final year, students work on an independent research project that allows them to explore a current HR topic they are interested in. This practical experience helps them apply what they've learned to real-life situations and improves their analytical and problem-solving skills.

Students are assessed through various methods, including exams, essays, in-class tests, real-life case problems, and presentations. The course is recognised by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), enhancing the degree's credibility and value in the job market. Students also have the option to study abroad or take a placement year to gain useful international experience or work experience.

Graduates from this programme often find jobs in fields like human resources, consulting, management, and recruitment.
