BMSc Anatomy Intercalated
Course overview
With an intercalated degree, students can spend a year studying a topic of interest, which allows them to become more informed about different options for their career post-graduation, gain new transferable skills, including research skills and get a deeper insight into a subject area that interests them.
This intercalated degree will help students gain an in-depth understanding of the human body through dissection of Thiel-embalmed cadavers at our Centre for Anatomy and Human Identification (CAHID). These cadavers are soft-fix, which means they retain real-to-life qualities, including realistic colour, tissue quality, and flexibility, and students will develop a range of skills through their work with them, including hands-on skills which will be useful if they are considering pursuing a career in surgery post-graduation.
Students will learn to discuss the detailed anatomy of the human body, identify and integrate anatomical structure with function, carry out effective dissection, and find, interpret and evaluate scientific evidence and arguments, communicating these effectively.
