BSc Sport Coaching
Course overview
The BSc Sport Coaching at the University of Lancashire is an undergraduate degree focused on coaching, performance, analysis, and leadership in sport. Students build practical skills and knowledge to work with athletes, teams, and organisations. Students learn how to lead sessions, analyse movement, plan training, and motivate others. Practical work is at the heart of this degree, ensuring graduates are ready for roles in sport, fitness, or education. This full-time undergraduate degree is delivered on the Preston campus.
The programme combines theory and significant practical experience in sport coaching and leadership. Modules cover subjects such as skill acquisition, performance analysis for sport coaching, talent development, and coaching pedagogy. Students also get to apply their knowledge through workshops, coaching placements, or live sport settings. The aim is that students build a strong coaching portfolio and real-world experience by the time they graduate. Students learn through lectures, seminars, workshops, and hands-on coaching practice. Assessment is varied: students may write reports, give presentations, design and deliver coaching sessions, and complete projects.
