BA Childhood and Youth Studies

Course Overview

The BA (Hons) Childhood and Youth Studies, a three-year programme at the University of Bedfordshire, explains the important areas of child and young person development, well-being, and rights. It investigates how systems, including social, educational, and legal frameworks, influence their lives. The course covers key topics such as child protection, youth justice, disability, and special educational needs, preparing graduates for careers in education, social care, and community services.

Students experience interactive learning through case studies. This practical approach helps them understand how different organisations work together and the limitations of supporting children and young people. The course content is updated with current research and professional practices, ensuring it remains relevant to issues in the field.

Assessments include essays, presentations, group projects, and a final-year dissertation, designed to help students build practical and analytical skills.
