Course Overview

The BSc Nursing Practice (Child) at Staffordshire University is a three-year undergraduate course that prepares you to become a registered children’s nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). It blends academic study with real patient care to help you gain practical experience while studying.

You will learn how to provide safe and effective care to children from birth to age 18, including in hospitals, schools, hospices, and community settings. The course covers child health, family-centred care, and professional ethics. It blends classroom learning with clinical placements and simulation training in state-of-the-art facilities. Around 50% of your study time will be spent on clinical placements in real settings.

Several methods are used for teaching students, including lectures, workshops, seminars, clinical skills labs, simulation sessions, and immersive learning, while assessment is through coursework, essays, reports, portfolios, case studies, and exams. You’ll train with mannequins, VR, and life-like living spaces to build confidence before clinical blocks.
