BSc Computer Games Development

Course Overview

The BSc Computer Games Development at the University of Staffordshire is designed for those who aspire to work in an indie games studio or develop mobile games. It also provides good preparation for a career as a software developer in the wider computing industry.

Throughout this 3-year programme, students will analyse market trends, develop a marketing plan, and design and develop their own games for internal release. To complement the programming elements of the course, they will explore wider game development concepts such as asset creation, animation, game and level design, as well as balancing and testing.

Students will work with game designers, artists, and producers to create games in a simulated game studio work environment. This experience will enhance their skills in an aspect of game development by researching and developing a game module for their final year project.

Entry Requirements

Applicants are required to submit a personal statement in which they discuss their reasons for applying for the course and other relevant information regarding their studies. Grade Requirements:

  • Applicants are expected to have 112-120 UCAS tariff points with qualifications equivalent to A-levels in the grade range of BBC.
  • Other qualifications include BTEC Extended Diploma and T Levels.

English Proficiency:

  • The minimum English language requirement for entry to this programme is IELTS 6.0 (or equivalent) with no score lower than 5.5.

Cost of Study

The tuition fee for international students enrolling in the BSc Computer Games Development at the University of Staffordshire is £16,750 for the 2025-26 academic year.

Scholarships

Staffordshire University offers various scholarships that are a reduction of the tuition fee for international students; the SMART Scholarship is one of them. This scholarship is given to international applicants who have outstanding achievements. You do not need to apply for this scholarship separately; eligibility is checked during the application process. This scholarship offers a £3,000 discount on tuition fees each year.
