BSc Honours Nursing Child

Course Overview

Sheffield Hallam University BSc (Honours) Nursing (Child) is a program that is approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). It will equip you to qualify as a registered children's nurse with skills and knowledge to offer safe and effective care to children, young people and their families. This course is concerned with the special nature of the job of a children's nurse in providing physical, emotional and psychological care.

Learning and assessment in this course combine theory and practical experience with clinical placements. You will also get the chance to learn in real-world settings and will collaborate with other health and social care practitioners. The course will be structured to build not just your clinical skills, but your professional identity, preparing you for a leadership role in your first qualified position.

Entry Requirements

To be enrolled, applicants need to submit a personal statement, discussing their reasons for applying for the course and other relevant information regarding their studies. A relevant academic and/or employer reference is also required. Students can also upload their CV to show their work experience. Additional entry requirements include a criminal records declaration and occupational health screening.

Grade Requirements:

  • Applicants need at least 120 UCAS points from A levels, BTEC Extended Diploma, T-levels or an equivalent qualification.
  • International qualifications that are equivalent to A-levels are also accepted.

English Proficiency:

  • Applicants from non-English speaking backgrounds should have a minimum IELTS score of 7.0 overall, with at least 7.0 in speaking, reading, and listening, and 6.5 in writing. Other equivalent tests are also accepted.

Cost of Study

The tuition fee for international students taking the BSc (Honours) Nursing (Adult) at Sheffield Hallam University is £19,155, including an annual placement supplement of £2,000.

Scholarships

The university offers various scholarships to help students with the cost of their studies. You may be eligible for a non-repayable training grant of £5,000 per year from the NHS Learning Support Fund, as well as other scholarships for international students, such as the Transform Together Scholarships. Awards are also available for students with specific backgrounds, such as those with caring responsibilities or those who are estranged from their families.
