BSc Honours Computer Games Technologies with Foundation Year
Course overview
The BSc Computer Games Technologies with Foundation Year at Sheffield Hallam University is a four-year university course. It is for students who want to learn how to make computer games but whose current school qualifications are not high enough for them to start the main degree straight away.
This programme teaches all the necessary skills for a job in the games industry. You will learn the best methods and ideas for game development and understand the rules and ethical issues that are important in this field. You will be able to make games for different devices, like mobile phones or normal computers. When you finish the course, you will have a portfolio, a collection of commercial-quality work, that will help you find a job in the computer games and related industries.
The course starts with an extra Foundation Year. During this first year, you will study with other students who are also preparing for a computing degree. The main purpose of this year is to improve your study skills and academic potential so you are completely ready for the rest of the degree. Once you successfully pass the Foundation Year, you will move on to the first year of the main degree course. You will learn through different ways: working in groups, attending lectures and seminars, doing practical workshops in computer labs, and doing independent study.
