BEng Honours Aerospace Engineering with Foundation Year

Course Overview

This BEng (Honours) Aerospace Engineering with foundation year course is a full-time undergraduate programme for students who may not meet the entry requirements to the main degree. The course provides a basic education in the principles and practices of aerospace engineering and will prepare students for careers in the aerospace, aeronautical, and defence sectors.

 

Students will learn through lectures and practical projects, laboratory work, seminars, tutorials, question and answer sessions and computer simulations for practical experience.


Students participate in live projects and national engineering competitions which allow them to apply what they have learned to real-world challenges. Students are assessed through exams, coursework, case studies, phase tests, viva presentations and portfolios, offering equal opportunities to demonstrate their learning and potential.

Entry Requirements

Candidates are to submit a statement where they discuss their reasons for applying for the course, an academic and/or employer reference and  CVs along with their applications.

Grade Requirements:

  • Candidates need 40 UCAS Tariff points.
  • Relevant work experience will be considered, if the candidate does not meet the academic criteria.

English Proficiency:

  • Applicants need to score at least 6.0 overall in the IELTS test, with a minimum of 5.5 in each section.
  • Other English language test scores, such as PTE and TOEFL IBT, are also accepted.

Cost of Study

The tuition fee for the BEng (Honours) Aerospace Engineering with Foundation Year course at Sheffield Hallam University for the 2025/26 academic year is £17,155.

Scholarships

Sheffield Hallam University offers scholarships to support students in their academics, such as the Transform Together Scholarships, which can provide up to 50% tuition fee reduction for the first year, and the Vice-Chancellor's Award, which offers financial support to international students. The GREAT Scholarships provide a £10,000 tuition fee waiver for postgraduate students from selected countries, including Nigeria, the Donor-funded scholarships and bursaries are also available for students in engineering fields and offer up to £3,000 per year (totalling close to £9,000 overall). Also, Commonwealth Shared Scholarships are offered to students from Commonwealth countries and Alumni discounts are also available for postgraduate study.
