Entry Requirements

English Proficiency:

  • If you are an international applicant, you need to show that you have a good understanding of the English language by getting an overall score of 6.0 in the IELTS, with a minimum score of 5.5 in each of the four parts. 
  • The university also accepts other English language qualifications that are equal to IELTS, such as TOEFL and PTE Academic.

Cost of Study

For international students, the tuition fee for the first year of study is £20,950. Please remember that the university might increase these fees in the following years of your course.

Scholarships

Northumbria University provides several scholarships for international students who want to study undergraduate or postgraduate courses. If you are an international student starting a postgraduate taught programme in September 2025 or January 2026, you might be able to get a discount of £3,000 on your tuition fees. There are also special scholarships for students from specific countries, like Nigeria and India, which offer different amounts of financial help. For international students who are starting an undergraduate course in September 2025, the International Scholarship can help to reduce the cost of your tuition fees for the first year.
