Foundation Year in Science

Course Overview

The Foundation Year in Science is a one-year programme for students who do not meet the entry requirements for a three-year science degree or wish to prepare for higher-level study. Upon successful completion, students can progress to a full degree in various fields, including Biomedical Science, Environmental Health, and Pharmaceutical Sciences.

The curriculum is structured around four compulsory modules: Life Sciences, Foundation Mathematics, Chemistry, and SMART (Students Mastering Academic writing, Research and Technology). Teaching is done through a blend of lectures, workshops, and laboratory sessions, providing both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. Students also gain valuable transferable skills, such as critical thinking and workload management.

Entry Requirements

Scholarships

International students may be eligible for the Regional or International Merit Award, which provides a tuition fee reduction of up to £2,000 for the first year.
