Course Overview

The BA Business Management and Marketing degree at London Metropolitan University is a four-year course that includes an extra introductory year, called a foundation year. This is ideal for students who need academic preparation before starting their university studies. In the foundation year, you'll pick up business ideas and useful study skills to prepare for the rest of the course.

From the second year, the course teaches business strategy, leadership, and entrepreneurship. Students gain practical knowledge in creating marketing campaigns, managing teams, and understanding consumer behaviour; this helps them lead the execution of online marketing to drive brand awareness, customer engagement, and conversions, while overseeing SEO, social media, and paid ads to optimise performance across digital channels. 

Learning methods include lectures, seminars, and hands-on projects. You'll be assessed in a few different ways, including coursework, working in groups, giving presentations, and handing in written work. The objective is to help you build your communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.

About University

London Metropolitan University is a public university located in London, England. It was formed in 2002 when two universities, the University of North London and London Guildhall University, joined together. The university offers many different undergraduate courses, spread across six different schools, including the Guildhall School of Business and Law.

The Business Management and Marketing course (including the foundation year) is recognised by the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM). This means that if you study this course, you won't need to complete two out of the three sections usually required for the CIM Certificate in Professional Marketing.

Entry Requirements

Grade Requirements

  • Candidates need 32 UCAS points to apply for this course. They also need at least one A-level or equivalent.
  • An Access to HE Diploma in a business-related subject is considered. A total of 60 credits is required, including 45 credits at Level 3, with at least 30 credits at Merit. Communications and Maths units must also have been passed at Level 2.
  • An International Baccalaureate score of 28 points, including at least 15 points at higher level and a minimum of 4 points in English and Maths at standard level.

English Proficiency

  • For international students whose first language isn’t English, an IELTS score of 6.0 overall is needed, with no individual section scoring below 5.5.
